Again, this year, Anne Marie signed up for a week of art-camp. She LOVES arts & crafts. I think she could participate in an art-camp that was every-day all summer long if we could find one! This year we were not able to sign up for the same camp that we did last year. They were booked WELL in advance. However, we were very lucky that our friend Mrs. G has an art degree and an art studio in a local art-center. I told her she should offer an art-camp for kids (since she has 5 I figured she'd be GREAT at it), so, we took the request to the leaders of the center and they were more than happy to let her hold a child's art camp for a week! Whoooohooo!! Anne Marie was thrilled - she was able to have friends join her and she already loved the teacher - an extra plus!!!
Every morning they would get to art camp they would have a little "free-time" . There were many drawings made for me during this time. One I loved the most was of me, Mike, and her standing in flowers under the sun. Even her friend Miss "E" made a picture of me & gave it to me to keep!
They learned how to mix colors to get new colors. -- and made beautiful flowers. (That are still in a vase on our kitchen table mind you!)
During free-time they were sometimes able to play with side-walk chalk. Then, they were able to leave their artwork out for moms and dads to see when we came to pick them up. This is Anne Marie's butterfly.
This is her paper-collage. They would cut pieces of different types of paper and fabrics to create a piece of art. Every day Mrs. G would read them a book - something to do with art or a book that was illustrated in a very artistic way. She would then have a little art lesson about that book & the kids would make something based on that lesson. This was a scene in the book as I think this one was about a little bird and all the pictures in the book were pieces of paper/fabrics pasted together to look like a picture. (What a good idea! I'll have to remember that for future @ home projects!!)
This was her self portrait. Mrs. G gave them each a mirror at the beginning of class and ask them to look at themselves because she wanted them to draw what they saw. She then mixed different spices with paint to show how they could make different colors. Anne Marie even drew her little pony-tail coming off the side of her head (just the way she wore it that day!!) Too cute!!
There were many more pieces of art that we didn't get photographed, but every day she brought home sweet little things that we have saved & posted all over her room for the summer.
Thank you Mrs. G for helping our girlly have a GREAT summer experience. Here's hoping for many more summers of art-camp with you!!!
