October 21 was our 12th wedding anniversary. WOW! 12 years. It sometimes just doesn't seem that long, and then some days it seems like 40! (haa) I'm sure Mike would say the same thing. When we talk about being 24 and married it just seems like forever-ago. Doesn't 24 seem too young now?? (haa)
Our life together has had ups and downs. Through all of these we have grown. Now added to this family we have a wonderful, beautiful, smart, yet very "obstinate" child. (haa haa --- anyone remember that word from her referral?) Could life be any better?
To my husband: Thanks for being my wonderful husband, thank you for going through all these times with me, and thank you for believing God had a greater purpose in our life than just the two of us!!
The night of our anniversary was a Sunday night. Mike has to be at work at 2:00 a.m., so he's usually off to bed VERY early! That day after Church he came home and took a little nap -- then that night he put Anne Marie to bed at 7:00p.m. and said he had a special surprise for me. We had decided not to get gifts for each other this year as we are on a "new budget" and trying to finish our basement - so this is where we're putting most of our "extra" money.
Well, he said since our anniversary present was the basement, we were going to "celebrate" in it. He lead me to the partially finished basement (drywall,drywall-mud, drywall dust, unfinished doors -- but better than our old cement bricks) Well, there was, to my surprise, a beautiful area with candles, white table cloth, music, and a lovely dinner created all by my husband. Well, after a while you didn't realize you were even in the basement. He has music from years ago that we used to listen to all the time, and it was a special dinner -- just the two of us -- not that Anne Marie isn't the most fun little person in the world, but it's weird how funny it felt just to have the two of us sit down to dinner alone!!
I'm sure he'd be a little embarrassed if I posted the pictures on line -- but I'm going to anyway, because I thought it was just too sweet!!!
